Insurance
Here at Seven Lakes Eye Care, we will gladly file most medical insurance claims for the patient. However, we are not in-network with all plans. As an In-Network provider, we have contracts with those insurance companies and will bill according to their guidelines. Out-of-Network means that we will not know how much, if any, that your insurance will pay towards your visit.
We are In-Network with:
BCBS medical
Bluemedicare
Cigna
Community Eye Care (Routine visit)
Medicare & most supplements
Tricare
Out- of-Network with the following medical plans, but they do usually have Out-of-Network benefits:
Aetna State Plan (out-of-network copay)
Aetna Medicare Advantage PPO
Humana State Retiree Plan
United Healthcare PPO
Routine vs Medical Exams:
Routine eye exams check how well you see and whether you need corrective lenses. It focuses on vision clarity (near & far), updating the prescription for corrective lenses, and basic eye health screening. This routine exam is covered by vision insurance on a yearly or every 2-year basis.
Medical eye exams are for diagnosing and managing eye diseases or medical conditions. It focuses on monitoring chronic conditions. Dr Kavanaugh is trained in diagnosing and managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eyes, eye infections, injuries or sudden vision loss. Your medical insurance should cover the specialized testing that Dr Kavanaugh will do with special equipment such as the OCT, OPTOS (retinal photos), and Visual Field machine.
If you should have questions, your insurance company should be able to help you.
